More About Me

My name is AJ Cunningham, and I'm a 28-year-old professional MMA fighter with a record of 10-2. Fighting has always been an integral part of my life, both inside and outside the cage. I was born in Arizona, along with my four brothers, and my journey has been shaped by a tumultuous upbringing under the influence of a troubled man, who was associated with the Aryan Brotherhood gang.

From an early age, he had a vision for how his four sons should be built, act, and think, I later used these dark moments to find strength and transition into "The Savage". Injected with steroids and subjected to intense workouts, my brothers and I were made to fistfight each other and other kids in the neighborhood almost daily. As early as five years old, we would use slurs and other tactics to provoke fights, even trying to involve the adults so that my biological father could join in.

Refusing to comply with my father's expectations always resulted in severe punishments, far worse than any injuries sustained during fights. Beatings and being repeatedly picked up and slammed were among the painful consequences. During these punishments, I had to recite his words, re-enforcing his control. Another horrifying punishment was the "honey treatment," where I would be seated in a chair and have food and liquids poured over me before being sent outside to spend the night.

At the age of eight, I entered the foster care system but didn't stay long due to my inclination to fight with the other foster kids. Eventually, I found myself in juvenile detention, where my life took a positive turn. After spending 168 days in the system, I was fortunate enough to be adopted by my loving mom and dad.

It wasn't until I turned 20 that I was able to harness my animosity and temperament where I pursued physical training zealously further discovering my passion for MMA. Despite starting later than many others, I quickly found success in the amateur circuit, winning four championships. In the summer of 2018, I made the leap to the professional ranks, driven by a burning desire to prove myself. I want my story to be seen not as a sad tale, but as a testament to the strength of an unbreakable mind.

I firmly believe that where you start doesn't define your potential. With enough hard work and hope, anything can be achieved. I am confident that my style and my story will make a huge impact in the UFC, and I eagerly anticipate fighting in front of Dana White in Las Vegas in the coming months. Representing small-town USA fills me with excitement, as I aim to showcase the blue-collar, hard-nosed mentality that defines me.

I am grateful for any assistance and support along this journey. Together, let's reach the finish line and leave an indelible mark on the world of MMA. See you there!
